Changeling Crossroads S1E6: Midsummer Dreams

EVENT INFORMATION: 

Though the brave actions of the Fae of Charm City have protected some neighborhoods from the predations of the Fell, the creatures of nightmare have continued to spread and become an ever more immediate threat. Fanatical vampires continue their search for their ancient vampire deity, and militant human hunters seek out sanctuaries of the Fae to destroy them, while the Frozen who run the city government crush dreams in their own ways. The Innkeepers of Westminster do their best to provide aid to their beleaguered urban kith, but they are facing many of the same difficulties, and a new arrival within their domain is about to place a difficult dilemma before them. What dreams will survive the midsummer heat, and which ones will burn with the chaf?

This game is set in the World of Darkness, a world like our own by where monsters such as vampires and werewolves prowl the night and mages threaten to break reality for their own amusement. In this world the Fae are creatures native to the Dreaming, where the dreams and creativity of humanity draw life. They are imaginary and mythical creatures, but to those who believe in them they are real. Those who refuse to believe, however, can cause them immense harm. Changelings must struggle to be themselves in a society that wants them to conform to banality.

So, what type of dream or myth will you embody? Will you be a haughty noble elf, a wild satyr, a brutish troll, a delicate nymph, a grotesque ghoul, a helpful brownie, a ingenuitive goblin? Almost anything is possible in this game and can be worked into our setting. If you are familiar with Changeling the Dreaming this will be very close to what you know, though our version will have changed some terms and concepts to make it a bit more accessible and remove some of the Eurocentric cultural specificity of other versions of the game. 

LOGISTICS INFORMATION:

If you're not familiar with Changeling the Dreaming don't worry about anything you just read. Rules and character creation specifics will be released in a couple of days but now is a good time to start thinking about what type of Fae you will portray and start getting your everything you will need together. Although we encourage dramatic costuming and there will be a slight benefit given to impressive costuming in game, it is not required. We do not want that to be a barrier to play.

The game will run for six hours and everyone is encouraged to bring light refreshments to share. We will be charging a $10 fee (waived for first time players) in order to cover our costs. All game staff are volunteers, we're just doing this for fun.

We ask that everyone who plays be fully vaccinated but as this game sometimes takes place in a public location we cannot guarantee that everyone present will be fully vaccinated. Masks also are optional at this location. As the covid-19 spread rate in this area is relatively low currently, and at the same time many of us have already been through it, everyone will have to calculate their own level of risk and take the precautions they feel are appropriate for themselves.
